Stacey Tompkins, President of Tompkins Excavating in Putnam Valley NY, started her career in the food service industry as a Food Service Director for Aramark Services, managing the corporate dining facilities of several Wall Street clients.
She is the majority owner of the now certified, NYS Minority and Women Owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Tompkins Landscaping Corp dba Tompkins Excavating, which specializes in commercial site development. Her strong management background has helped cultivate a company culture that retains top-quality employees and fosters continuous training. Since taking the helm in 2013, Stacey oversees every aspect of the business and revenues have increased exponentially.
A leader in the community, Tompkins Excavating has been involved with many charitable endeavors including Feeding Westchester, Girls Inc, Support Connection of Westchester, Habitat for Humanity, Putnam Valley Central School District, Jan Peek House, Community Cares of Mahopac, and the Community Center of Northern Westchester, over the many years since Stacey took the helm.
Stacey has a passion for helping guide young men and women in their workforce development. She has recently been a mentor in the Her Honor Mentoring program, and has developed a continuous relationship with Northern Westchester Boces, including lending machines and offering internships for their students. Recently, Stacey was asked to lecture at the Marist College Advanced Entrepreneurship class.
Serving on the Board of Directors for the Business Council of Westchester, as Chair of the Commercial Builders Advisory Council, and as a Trustee of the Building and Realty Institute (BRI), Stacey has been tasked with cofounding a local Women In Construction group by the BRI. She also sits on the UDig Hudson Valley Damage Prevention Council and is an active member of the Putnam County Business Council and the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce.
Under her leadership, Tompkins Excavating has received a number of prestigious awards, including 2022 Contractor of the Year from Equipment World Magazine, Business of the Year from the Hudson Valley Gateway Chamber of Commerce (2017), a Family-Owned Business Award from Westfair Communications (2016), and a Cornerstone Award from Habitat for Humanity (2015).
Stacey has also been honored for her leadership – 2024’s WEDC Women Helping Women Entrepreneurial Spirit Award, 2023’s Westfair Communications Women Innovators Award, 914Inc’s 2023 Top CEO and Business Leader award, The Business Council of Westchester’s 2019 Hall of Fame – Women in Business Success, New York State Senate’s 2019 Women of Distinction, Women in Leadership Award from The Putnam County Chambers of Commerce (2018), New York and New Jersey Brava Award Honoree (2017), 914 Inc. magazine’s Women in Business Award (2016), and a Mature Trailblazer award from The Putnam County Chambers of Commerce (2013).
Since 2022, Stacey has served as a Town Councilwoman in Putnam Valley NY, where she lives with her husband. She has 3 sons that have all played an instrumental role in the family business. Stacey holds a Bachelor of Science from SUNY Oneonta.
