CarlLa Horton, M.P.A.

CarlLa Horton has served as Executive Director of Hope’s Door for more than 25 years. CarlLa grew up in Chicago in a family deeply affected by poverty, sexual abuse, and domestic violence and describes her work as an extension of her anti-racist, social justice, and feminist principles.

Among other social justice work, CarlLa is an activist member with these organizations:

  • New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
  • New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence Advisory Council.
  • Westchester County Domestic Violence Council.
  • Westchester Women’s Agenda, serving as a Board Member, a founding member of their Racial Equity Task Force, and Co-Chair of their 2022 Report on the Status of Women in Westchester.
